Narrative Description of Project:

This complex project originally a long term storage factory but changed later involved the construction of warehouses for the storage of 100,000 tonnes of cocoa. The complex consisted of 8No. storage warehouses, each of capacity of 12,500 tonnes, a cocoa sorting facility capable of sorting cocoa into three grades, an administration block, an entomological laboratory for cocoa quality control, infrastructure consisting of central trunk waiting area, internal road network, access road, drainage system, water supply and distribution, waste disposal system, telecommunication facilities and a rail link with the Tema Harbour.  Due to financial constraints the project has been suspended and only the entomological laboratory has been completed and is serving as a research centre.

Description of Actual Services Provided by ABP:

ABP carried out topographical survey, geotechnical investigations, preparation of a Master Plan, all engineering designs except for the rail link, preparation of technical specifications and bills of quantities, pre-qualification and evaluation of contractors, construction supervision and contract management of the four contracts awarded until suspension.  Equipment/layout for the sorting facility was supplied by CFC of France.
